NFLPA selects Tyrann Mathieu as Week 0 Community MVP

In recognition of holding his back to school program in both
Houston and New Orleans, the NFL Players Association named Texans Defensive
Back Tyrann Mathieu as their Week 0 Community MVP. The award acknowledges the
immediate impact Mathieu has created in the community since joining the Houston
Texans in the offseason.

Mathieu spent the week leading up to the start of the NFL’s
regular season delivering backpacks full of classroom supplies to children at
the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston and speaking at length about the
importance of education and mentorship. He also delivered an additional 250
backpacks to low-income students in his hometown of New Orleans.

The NFLPA’s Community MVP program highlights the many
difference-making activities that NFL players are participating in throughout
teams’ communities. Each week during the season, a single player is selected as
that week’s Community MVP, recognizing his effort to go above and beyond for
those in need. Mathieu is the first Community MVP of the 2018 NFL season.

As part of the award, the Tyrann Mathieu Foundation will
receive a $10,000 check courtesy of the NFLPA and a limited-time bobblehead of
Mathieu will be made available through Forever Collectibles. These bobbleheads
can be purchased at http://www.sportsfanisland.com/.

Additionally, Mathieu is now eligible for the prestigious
Alan Page Community Award at season’s end. Only Community MVP winners
throughout the season are eligible for this award, which recognizes the single
player who has given back to his community the most throughout the season.
